itul toddy is a very good and healthy drink. I too drink it. He has suggested commencing in making Kitul toddy soon—Minister Dilan Perera.
The other day Minister Dilan Perera happened to attend a meeting connected with those involved in toddy tapping business. He explained and showed the importance of manufacturing kitul toddy which baffled those present at this meeting. What he told those present was as follows:
“What I say that coconut is deployed to make coconut Arrack. By using Tal, arrack
named Tal arrack is manufactured. What I cannot understand is why one cannot manufacture Kitul Arrack deploying Kitul toddy. Kitul toddy is a very good drink. I too consume it.If anyone is caught by the Police for extracting Kitul toddy they are produced before courts. The lawyers who appear for them confess to the Magistrate that their clients are guilty. The fine is Rs 500/- These cases are only for Kitul tappers.
Consuming two bottles of Kitul toddy is no harm. Only those hypocritical politicians object to it. They are against drinking toddy, but they consume ‘Gal’ arrack and Whisky in the evenings.”
