-You must be accepted into full study at an accredited institution qualified to teach the course.
-You must have enough money to pay for travel, tuition and living expenses for yourself, your partner and your dependent children for the duration of your stay in Australia. You must also have enough money to support your partner and dependent children, even if they do not travel with you to Australia.

An Australian student visa will allow you to:
• study in Australia
• bring eligible dependant family members to Australia with you
• work up to 20 hours per week while your course is in session and full time during scheduled course breaks.
Your family members can work up to 20 hours per week provided you have commenced your course of study in Australia. If you are doing a postgraduate course, such as a Masters degree, your family members can work full time once you commence this course.
Your partner can study in Australia for up to three months; however, if your partner wants to study for more than three months they must apply for their own student visa. The application can be made in Australia.
Australia is one of the most popular places for students from abroad to study. Monday through Friday, most students attend their classes. If your schedule permits, you can make a quick trip to the beach before or after class for some fun in the sun.
Weekends afford party-goers the chance to hit up one of Australia’s huge nightclubs. Make sure you arrange transportation via cab or designated driver if you are doing to drink because you will be fined heavily or even put in jail for drunken driving. Sundays give students the chance to catch up or get a head start on any work from the past or upcoming week. It would be a great idea to use Sunday as a jump off day for your studies so you don’t fall behind.
There are a few different options for eating while at school, students can buy from cafeterias and eateries on campus or venture off school grounds for a better deal. Bringing packed lunches from home is also a great money saving idea and can be very simple if prepared the night before. If you don’t have time to cook, eating out is always an option with plenty of fast food restaurants nearby campus.

Living Costs/Standards

While studying in Australia, as a student you will have two options, living on campus in residence or living off campus and renting an apartment or house. However there are many choices within those two selections. On campus there are usually several different styles of accommodation with varying levels of privacy. Off campus living likewise has many different opportunities with according price tags attached. Apartments and houses are available for rent either singularly or with roommates, also families rent out rooms in their houses to students for very reasonable rates.

Tuition Fees

As an international student, you must pay your tuition fees up-front. In addition tuition fees, some institutions may also charge for other student costs, such as library, laboratory or sports facility costs. Your institution will provide you with information on how and when to pay your tuition fees.
On average, a student doing foundation studies can expect to pay between $9,000 and $14,000(AUS) a year. Students pursuing an Undergraduate degree can expect fees ranging between $12,500 and $31,500(AUS) a year. Post graduate students doing Graduate Certificates and/or Graduate Diplomas can expect $9,000 to $31,000(AUS) in tuition fees. Masters and/or a Doctoral degree is estimated between $11,000 and 31,000(AUS) a year. Vocational education and training will range from about $5,000 to $20,000(AUS) a year.
If your application for a student visa is refused by the Department of Immigration and Citizenship (DIAC), you are entitled to a refund for pre-paid course fees calculated in accordance with the ESOS Act. DIAC will write to you to say your visa has been refused. You must give a copy of this notice to your education provider and request a refund. The ESOS Act allows your education provider to keep some money to cover administration expenses. This means that a provider is bound by the legislation to provide a refund and cannot use a clause in the written agreement to avoid all or part of this responsibility.
